The Reel says
Arab states reject Palestinian refugees because they tried to overthrow host governments?
Palestinian fedayeen fought Jordan's monarchy in 1970, but no refugee overthrow attempts occurred in Egypt or Kuwait, and the Peel Commission was a British proposal. Nick Freitas claims Arab nations refuse Palestinian refugees because refugees tried to overthrow host governments in Jordan, Egypt, and Kuwait, and that Jewish leaders offered the Peel Commission. CIA and Wikipedia records show Palestinian militants fought Jordan's government in 1970 and Palestinians were expelled from Kuwait after PLO leadership backed Iraq's 1990 invasion, but no overthrow attempts took place in Egypt. Britannica also documents that the 1937 Peel Commission was a British government initiative rejected by Britain in 1938.

What we checked
What we couldn't check
- We couldn't find the full original video, so we can't say what was said just before or after this clip.
What the Reel doesn't tell you
- The Peel Commission was a British government initiative abandoned by Britain in 1938 rather than a Jewish peace proposal, and Palestinian refugees never attempted to overthrow Egypt's government.
- CIA historical records document that Palestinian fedayeen operated as an armed state within a state in Jordan prior to the 1970 Black September conflict.
- Wikipedia and academic studies note that Kuwait expelled hundreds of thousands of Palestinians after PLO leader Yasser Arafat supported Saddam Hussein's 1990 invasion.
How it plays you
It wants you to think: “Therefore, the refusal of Arab countries to take Palestinian refugees and the conflict are caused by Palestinian actions.”
Clashes between Palestinian militants and Jordan's monarchy in 1970 do not mean refugees attempted overthrows in every host state or that refugee policy across the Arab world is solely caused by those events.
