These terms apply when you use checkthis.chat ("checkthis", "we"), including our Instagram account @checkthis.chat and our website. By sending content to checkthis or using the website, you agree to them. Contact: hello@checkthis.chat.

What checkthis does

checkthis is an automated service that analyses videos and posts you share with it and reports what it finds, for example whether footage appeared online earlier, whether a clip was cut from a longer original, or whether a claim matches published evidence. Results link to the sources they rely on.

Results are automated and can be wrong

• Results are produced by software, including AI models, without human review. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong.
• A result describes the content you shared, not the people in it. It is information, not legal, medical, financial or professional advice.
• Check the linked sources before relying on a result, and use your own judgement before sharing it.
• Results can change when new evidence appears. The current result is always on the check page.

Your responsibilities

• You must be at least 13 years old.
• Only share content you are allowed to share with us.
• Don't use checkthis to harass anyone, to send spam or automated floods of requests, to probe or reverse-engineer the service, or to break the law or Instagram's terms.
• We may limit, pause or block use that breaks these terms or threatens the service.

Content and results

• You keep any rights you have in the content you share. You allow us to process it to provide and improve the service, as described in our privacy policy.
• Check pages about a shared video can be viewed by anyone with the link. They never show who shared the video.
• The checkthis name, website and the way results are presented belong to us.

Availability and changes

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". It may change, pause or stop, including because of changes by Instagram or other providers. We may update these terms; the "last updated" date shows when. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, checkthis is not liable for decisions made or actions taken based on its results, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without affecting any rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
