Bandwagon
Saying everyone believes it, so you should too.
In our replies we call it: "Everyone believes it"
What it means
The bandwagon trick uses popularity as proof: "millions agree", "the whole internet is talking about it", "everyone knows". View counts and trending hashtags stand in for evidence.
How to spot it in a Reel
- "Millions of people can't be wrong"
- View counts or shares shown as proof
- "Everyone is saying..."
Examples
- A Reel says a health remedy works because "10 million people shared it".
- A Reel says a claim must be true because it's trending.
Why it doesn't hold up
Popular claims can be false and unpopular ones true. Shares measure attention, not accuracy.
What to say back
"Lots of people believing it doesn't make it true. What's the source?"
Questions
Why does bandwagon work?
People use what others believe as a shortcut, especially when unsure.
