The Reel says
IDBI Bank is not lending funds to Fairfax to finance its own acquisition?
Fairfax is not borrowing loans from IDBI Bank to buy it; the proposed structure involves IDBI Bank using surplus cash to buy Fairfax's insurance and capital arms. Fairfax Financial Holdings was selected as the strategic buyer for a 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank for ₹52,878 crore through a competitive bidding process. Fairfax executives indicated that IDBI Bank would use its excess cash reserves to purchase Fairfax's holdings in Go Digit Insurance and IIFL Capital, not that Fairfax would borrow loans from IDBI Bank. Raymond James is an equity research firm that asked questions on an investor call, not a buyer in the transaction.
