Critics want street revolts and violent regime change in India?
Checked 17 Oct 2026
This post misleads by framing unverified allegations and manipulated quotes as direct calls for a violent revolt. The quote attributed to Dhruv Rathee stems from a legal complaint against him rather than his verified statements, while Prashant Bhushan's remarks were edited out of context to twist a warning about state repression into a threat. It is true, however, that Neha Bora congratulated Bangladesh's youth and stated they were showing the way for democratic and voter rights movements.

The trick: Fake quote
It puts words in someone's mouth that they never said.
"Army and Police should revolt against the current regime. Don't contest elections. Congratulations Bangladesh for showing us the way. India's democracy will not be decided by voters, but by the streets. We want regime…"

What each side says
How it plays you
It wants you to think: "Government critics and commentators are subversives attempting to destroy Indian democracy through violent chaos."
The claim relies on fabricated, spliced statements. Prashant Bhushan clarified that appealing for regime change is a constitutional right to save electoral democracy against government overreach, not an invitation to violence.
- Insinuation by question: "IS THIS REALLY ABOUT PROTECTING DEMOCRACY, OR ABOUT CHALLENGING THE VERY SYSTEM THAT GIVES PEOPLE THE POWER TO CHOOSE…". It poses a rhetorical question to lead the viewer into suspecting that democratic dissent is actually a ploy for anarchy.
