The Reel says
Cleaning a dirty speed sensor can resolve minor transmission shifting issues?
Automotive guides confirm that metal particles on a speed sensor tip cause erratic shifts, and cleaning the sensor tip can restore normal operation. CarGeek and ShopDiag report that metal particles clinging to a magnetic speed sensor tip distort speed signals, triggering erratic, delayed, or harsh gear shifting. AutoNation Mobile Service confirms that cleaning dirty sensors is a standard, low-cost troubleshooting step before seeking major transmission repairs.
