MisleadingTrick: Fake comparisonThe Reel accurately notes that Larry Fink helped pioneer mortgage securitization in the 1980s and that BlackRock advised the government during the 2008 and 2020 financial crises. However, it builds a misleading conspiracy narrative by falsely claiming Fink personally owns the trillions in assets managed by BlackRock. BlackRock is an asset manager that invests client funds as a fiduciary, and government officials, not Fink, designed the bailouts.
The trick: Fake comparison
It treats two very different things as the same (known as false equivalence).
"And who's the number one asset holder on the planet? Son, that would be CEO of BlackRock, Larry Fink"
The Reel treats the assets BlackRock manages on behalf of its clients as Larry Fink's personal property to claim he enriched himself through government bailouts.

How it plays you
It wants you to think: "A single elite executive secretly controls government bailouts to enrich himself using money he personally owns."
The Reel confuses asset management with personal asset ownership. Managing client funds under fiduciary duty does not mean owning those trillions or orchestrating federal policy decisions.
- Causal oversimplification: "Who created the collateralized debt obligation? Oh, don't worry about that one. That was created at First Boston in…". It pins complex financial instruments and systemic market failures on a single individual, ignoring broader market factors and regulatory shifts.
- Repetition: "CEO of BlackRock, Larry Fink". It constantly repeats Fink's name after every financial decision to plant the idea that one man dictated all government policy.
