What we checked

How it plays you

It wants you to think: "The visual evidence of catfish swimming in the streets is a real, documented consequence of the Bangkok floods."

India Today Fact Check found the video to be AI-generated. While Bangkok has experienced real flooding, nothing in the evidence shows this specific scene of a school of catfish swimming down a city road is real.

• Presenting AI as real footage: "Bangkok Floodwaters Turn Streets into Rivers as Catfish Swim Through the City". The creator presents a highly unusual, AI-generated video of fish swimming in streets as a real news event, mixing it with actual flood statistics to make the fake footage seem credible.
